The style and format for this workshop will be highly interactive, with minimal instruction and maximum creative freedom. Participants are welcome to bring a project they are currently working on. If you would rather work on something fresh, you may use ideas already in mind, or we will provide writing prompts as well as any assistance we may provide to help you come up with your "workshop project". Every participant will have equal opportunity to benefit from the exercises, regardless of skill level. We are eager to assist those who have very little experience with creative writing. We truly hope to see and be part of those "first steps".
The first day will last from 5:30 PM until 8:30 PM --- Second day will begin at 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM, with a one hour lunch break at Noon.
You can expect to engage in Short Writing Jam Sessions (Short periods of writing with no editing, followed by group sharing and feedback at the discretion of participant, with no assigned prompts or themes.)
In the first session there are no constraints and guided only by the creativity of participants.
Subsequent rounds of writing will involve such things as introducing a new dynamic to the story or scene, such as unexpected events, emerging character trait or conflict , switching narrative viewpoint i.e. first person to third person, or possibly another character.
All sessions, exercises, and projects will entirely be structured and formatted to do one thing absolutely – To stir Creativity and Passion by adding deeply innovative approaches to the craft and art of writing. Participants, from beginner to professional will be able to learn and develop solid techniques by engaging in free-form, creative "play."
